I went back and looked at some on my pictures over the last year and discovered that about 80% of "My Favorites" follow this rule. I never realized it.

Rule of Thirds.
This week in the Bloggography Tutorial we learned about the Rule of Thirds. Basically, you imagine a tic-tac-toe board over the viewfinder and attempt to position your subject where the lines intersect. This usually enhances the aesthetic quality of your pictures.
